I sent my okuma convector 55 to john with star drag troubles after I was told by a skipper to leave the star drag engaged while caught on a wreck which left my reel letting off line even while the star drag was engaged and john sorted the troubles for me and gave my reel a good oil and service and after john fixed the reel he phoned me and gave me advice as to what to do next time i'm caught on a wreck and on top of this he recommended some boats for me to charter with good skippers! I would definitely send my reel to john at reel value for all my repairs and servicing

Like Gary Magee, I also had a Scierra reel repaired by John - and on the same date. Haven't tried it out yet but all looks perfect. Also very efficient and friendly service, excellent turnaround, and to be highly recommended.

Excellent Service! Someone mentioned earlier that John here is "Old School". I couldn't agree more and wish there were more of his ilk still offering their services today. I had a free spooling problem with my Boss 270 (probably my own fault, a bit lazy after last use). This is not the commonest of reels in the UK. I spoke with John and he was not in the slightest bit fazed by the make. He had the job done within a day, replacing parts I thought we would have to wait ages for. I had it back the next working day after the Easter Break. Incredible service and a pleasure to deal with. Live long and prosper John <grin>

John has just returned one of my much loved Okuma Raw II 40 reels having serviced it. The instant anti-reverse suddenly stopped working on my last fishing trip and I was at a loss as to whom I should send it to for repair. I found Reev Value via Google looking for an Okuma approved service center. I can honestly say that the courteous and professional service I have received is second to none and I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending John or his services to anyone. I contacted John after a recommendation from a friend of mine , who said this guy is absolutely spot on with reel servicing and maintenance. I sent my Saltist 2 speed lever drag to him because it was nearly seized up. I sent the reel on A Friday evening and he rang to say that it was ready and he was posting it on the following Tuesday !!. This guy is truly one of the old school , very knowledgeable , sincere and totally trustworthy. I would recommend him to anybody who wants the best reel service and repair available.

I bought a Kingpin centrepin reel on ebay with a broken ratchet, John managed to source the required part and repair it within a fortnight. Excellent service at a very reasonable price.

I had a broken spring on my Okuma Sheffield centre pin and it was also fairly gunked up after 4 or more years use. I checked that it could be repaired and sent it off 2nd class signed for on a Friday. The following Tuesday (whilst I was out fishing!) I had a call to say it was done. I rang on the Weds when back home to pay by phone and on Friday, only a week after I had sent it 2nd class (I was in no hurry) it was back with me. Spring repaired, the reel cleaned and serviced and now running like a dream. I hadn't realised how slow it had become. All this for £16.50 inc postage back. Great value, great job and fantastic customer service. I've made a note to get my reels more regularly serviced at the end of each season in the future.

Sent my Grauvell Zeus fixed spool to John for a new roller and bale arm after I busted it on a Norfolk beach! The turn-round was less than a week. Great service and value-for-money service once again by Reel Value!!

This is the first time that I have used John to repair and service one of my nasty bcx6601's.I was delighted with the results and would have no qualms in sending him some of my better reels for servicing.
His attitude and communications are first class.I would not hesitate to recommend him to any of my pike fishing buddies.
I have not yet established with him if he is prepared to take on my fixed spool reels (summer use) it may well turn out that I do not have to deal with the miserable guys in Wales ever again.

My quite old Okuma Catalina multiplier was giving trouble with the line lay mechanism. In fact the line guide jammed everytime it got the end of its travel on one side. I contacted John and discussed the problem. Some spare parts for the Catalina are no longer available from Okuma but after sending the reel to John I was soon sorted! He carried out repairs and serviced the reel for a very reasonable price in just a few days. Great service and friendly contact - Many thanks John.

Sent a reel to John for a long overdue service, a USA manufactured Penn which required a part ordering. John kept me informed via phone that there may be a slight delay, but the part was obtained very quickly and the reel returned like new at the very reasonable price of £20 for a full overhaul including parts.

I have jus had my daiwa sloshes serviced and repaired new sideplates by reel value and i am very very impressed, the reels came back to me like new!!! Better then new even!!! Can not recommend enough. Was passed johns details by prologic uk as was trying to source a receiver for my 4 alarms. Upon initial contact, everything was explained to me in full with different options. I spoke to john and within 72 hrs of posting my 4 alarms off, I had them back, paired with a receiver and presentation case. Cost was absolute minimal and if anyone needs advice or service or just to pick someone's brains, john is they guy. Just trying to look at my ageing carp gear to see what else I can send away. After a fruitless month checking tackle shops for spare Okuma reels a kindly chap at Cotswold Angling Trevor rang the owner company who gave me Johns details here and in 48 hours fixed my problem with spools for both my big pits and trio 30s ( he gave me the best tip to use a 40 size on the trios and their far superior than the original !!!)
